Abstract


This study aims to examine the state anxiety, constant anxiety, problem solving skills, social self sufficiency skills and social proficiency expectations of the coaches participating in the “Giresun Football Coaches Improvement Program” organized in collaboration between the Giresun Province Branch of Football Coaches Association (TÜFAD) and Giresun University Faculty of Education Physical Education and Sports Department. Study group includes 65 coaches who are members of the Football Coaches Association (TÜFAD) in Giresun Province.  The coaches were given trainings in sports psychology, athletes’ health, choice of talent, sports injuries and changing subjects of the education sciences twice a month for a period of 4 months.  As data collection tools, State and Constant Anxiety Inventory, Problem Solving Inventory, Social self sufficiency scale and Social Proficiency Expectation Scale were employed. The data analysis of this experimental study was made on the computer through the SPSS 17.00 statistical package program. Following the group studies conducted with coaches, it was established that there was a significant increase in their state and constant anxiety levels, problem solving skills, social self sufficiency and social proficiency expectations. What makes this study important is the fact that it will be one of the pioneering studies to be conducted on Giresun football coaches’ state and constant anxiety levels, problem solving skills, social self sufficiency skills and social proficiency expectations and thus make contributions to the future studies to be conducted on this subject.
